The Biryani Experiment:
The word 'experiment' might frighten some people, therefore I have added the word 'biryani' to make it enticing. Majority of the population love biryani and to specifically, add further, some people have biryani emotions. They talk biryani, dream biryani, savor biryani, and even worship biryani. I am not against those people, because I am one among them😉
It has been three months since I left Chennai due to the severity of the corona virus.
The pandemic, sure, has it's own style. It has tested people's patience and negligence at the same time. With all the social distancing and other cautious norms, the people of my hometown, started moving freely under the pretext of Unlock 1.0
After going through a continuous period of joy, dilemma, anxiety, and frustration for a brief period of three months, I went out, wearing the three-layered protective face mask with a small hand sanitizer (green apple flavored) bottle in hands. I am not a lover of non-vegan foods but I love mutton biryani, the most. The biryani that Chennai offered me was all good. My first Zomato order with Hotel Junior Kuppanna, Chennai, made me to visit the restaurant with my friends, the very next week (all were working, if not, it would be the next day). There were other good places too in Chennai, that lasted for a while in my biryani wish list.
Those three quarantine months, made me to continue the experiment in Sivakasi too. I instantly started the quest for best biryani around the town. It was not a difficult task. Being a small town with a finite number of hotels, I opted for a few, that were preferred by the people here. First among the experiment stood, Bell Hotel, where the mutton biryani was given a special flavor and aroma, with mutton minced properly and mixed proportionally with the spices. For a biryani lover, that's literally Heaven on Earth.
Sivakasi has a special place for biryani and parota in the name of Deluxe Hotel. The hotel, which lies in the middle of the busy bazaar starts serving its customers from 6 am throughout the week. Every big shot of the town happen to be their regular customer since its inception, which is nearly two decades.
The next good place to cherish biryani in Sivakasi is Appans Restaurant. They, alike Bell Hotel, have their own style of preparing biryani, suiting the taste buds of the local populace. Then there are other small shops and mess that cook and serve biryani to people of all strata.
Finally, I came to a conclusion that Sivakasi was really doing a great biryani job. The above mentioned three hotels, have never failed to impress the taste buds of the people. But, deep down, I still wish, Junior Kuppanna should open a branch in Sivakasi😝
P.S. I wish to know about your biryani moments too.
Only a true briyani lover can feel the emotions behind your words.
